East Penn Introduces the DEKA
Unigy II 595
Battery
East Penn Manufacturing Company recently
added the 595, a 95 ampere
Hour positive plate battery system, to its
Unigy II Line. Several unique design features have been incorporated into the
595, but the biggest achievement is that this valve-regulated lead-acid (VRLA)
battery system utilizes a smaller footprint design to deliver more power in less
space. For example, in comparison to a typical 48-volt system, the 595 battery
is 12% smaller and has 8% more power. The new 595 is available in a wide range
of capacities and sizes in configurations of three and six 2-Volt cells per
module. Power reserves for the 595 range from 285 AH to 1520 AH.
The 595 incorporates design features that
are unmatched in the rest of the industry. The new Interlock Module design
eliminates rear-bolting, offering a new front access bolting feature for
increased installation efficiency and safety. The front shield has been totally
redesigned to click On and off easily without using tools, for quicker
assembly and inspections. The use of C-type inter-cell connectors has been
eliminated with a newer two-way post design that makes connector assembly and
system installation faster and easier. Wider top terminal plate spacing improves
cable and connection safety. A redesigned air gap reduces footprint while
maintaining required cooling. A Catalyst vent improves high temperature
performance.
Equipped with a standard two-piece Interlock
base, the 595 system meets the latest UBC97 Zone 3 fault line specifications and
is certified up to 8 modules high. An optional one-piece Interlock base is also
available to meet Zone 4 top-of-building requirements.
